The Petercam story dates back to the creation of the two Brussels-based foreign exchange brokerage firms Peterbroeck and Van Campenhout at the start of the twentieth century. The two family-run companies merged in 1968 to become Petercam, organised in the form of a partnership. In other words, the partners who owned the company were also the managers of the company.
This spirit of partnership between managers continued when the group's holding company became a limited company. In 2000, Petercam acquired the full control of the company Cepa SA in Geneva, Switzerland (which became Petercam Banque Privée Suisse in 2002).
The Private Banking services within Belgium are offered from offices in Brussels, Antwerp, Ghent, Hasselt and Liège. The Bank recently opened two new offices: Knokke and Roeselare, to strengthen the market position in the West of Belgium.
Petercam's subsidiaries, located in Amsterdam and in Rotterdam in the Netherlands and in Geneva in Switzerland, have the status of a bank in the countries where they are based.
