NZB Neue Zürcher Bank AG is a limited company headquartered Zurich. The company was founded in 2000 under the name NZB AG.
In spring 2000, two Swiss bankers decided to found a new bank. Their intention was to establish a leading local brokerage business for Swiss equities, which should be largely free of unnecessary administrative burdens and crippling hierarchies. They would focus in particular on optimising client care and representation and on creating a partner-based organisation.
Having won further partners for the idea, the company began its operations in September 2000. Shortly before Christmas 2000, the financial institution received its banking licence. Since then, it has been operating under the name of NZB Neue Zürcher Bank. In February 2001, NZB Neue Zürcher Bank became a member of the Swiss stock exchange, and as such enjoys full recognition as a broker for Swiss equities.
Following its successful start-up phase, the bank was able to gradually extend its brokerage activities. In February 2007, NZB Neue Zürcher Bank took over the brokerage business of Bank Sarasin & Cie AG. In the course of time the bank started its private banking activities and launched the NZB Swiss Opportunity Fund.
During 2007 and 2008, the Sarasin Group acquired 40% of NZB Neue Zürcher Bank. The stake owned by the Sarasin Group forms part of a close cooperation with a renowned partner.
